Ex-Pope Benedict XVI takes a bow.

News reports say Pope Benedict XVI died on December 31, 2022. He was 95 and had been sick for years.

Africa was special to Pope Benedict XVI. He visited the continent frequently throughout his papacy and was well received. He preached peace, love, and unity to all Africans.

Pope Benedict XVI supported Africa. He visited Cameroon, Angola, Benin, and Ghana as pope. He discussed poverty, HIV/AIDS, and religious tensions with religious and government officials. He also asked the rest of the world to help Africa and asked African countries to work together to make their futures better. Pope Benedict pushed African nations to cooperate to end decades-old hostilities. His African travels also promoted interfaith dialogue.

The Pope also asked African leaders to work together to help the economy grow, reduce poverty, improve health care, and improve education. He thought that what he did would give Africans opportunities and help make the region fairer. He was admired by African religious communities and political leaders for his selflessness!

My heartfelt condolences during this difficult time, as we remember what a tremendous impact he had on so many lives in the years leading up to today when it becomes clear just how much of this remarkable man's legacy will be lost to future generations.

A cursory examination of some of the obstacles that the Pope faced during his papacy; is not meant to be accusatory, but rather to highlight the things that he had to work around.

After the Second Vatican Council in 1962, which is also referred to as Vatican II, the Catholic liturgical space was loosened up. As a result, Catholicism in Africa has embraced the integration of local praise practices into the Mass in addition to allowing the Mass to be celebrated in vernacular languages. Clapping, dancing, and singing with fervour are increasingly frequent elements found in Catholic liturgy across the continent, and the term "liturgical dancer" has become synonymous with young people participating in Catholic processions. It was widely believed that Pope Benedict came from the more traditionalist branch of the Catholic Church, which felt at least some unease over certain aspects of his reforms.

As I wrap up, I think Pope Benedict XVI did a lot to help Christians and Muslims in Africa talk to each other better. He thought that this could help people from different cultures understand each other better over time if it was done with respect and not through violence or spreading fear, as some extremists still do today.

Overall, the Pope left a legacy of better ties between people of different faiths and political perspectives, bringing us closer together even after his death.

Hey i have fund this article in a LinkedIn feed and it still contains this error: Pope Francis's death is a huge loss for Catholics and all those who admired his dedication to peace through interfaith discussions. We send our profound condolences during this sad time as we remember what a tremendous impact he had on so many lives over these last 8 years leading up to today when it becomes evident just how much will be lost about this remarkable man's legacy going forward into future generations.
