EVTOL Adoption Key is Deceptively Simple

August 20, 2020 – Spend a few minutes playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and you will experience what will undoubtedly be the key to mass adoption of EVTOL aircraft, especially for passenger and “air taxi” services: Pilot Synthetic Vision. Companies like Garmin have had synthetic vision technology in use for years now, as shown in the screen image below from Garmin’s G1000 flight management system. Notice any difference between the MS Flight Sim image above and the aircraft panel below? Simplicity vs complexity. The Garmin panel may have been written in Klingon hieroglyphs, while the Microsoft game screen bears a far more friendly and appealing English-ish representation.
