EVOTEK Turns 6
EVOTEK is now 6 years old! Each year comes with a level of maturing, learning, and understanding, offering an opportunity to reflect on each. It would be impossible to celebrate a birthday in 2020, without acknowledging the current worldwide situation with Covid-19. 2020 was a year to test any and all firms, big, small, new, and old. Businesses across the board were forced to transform, people were forced to work in different ways, and our way of life was completely disrupted. For EVOTEK, 2020 was absolutely a test — a test in how we value our culture.
In early February, our leadership team discussed the possibility of a pandemic and made the strategic decision to lean into the situation. We immediately launched a task force to both communicate and plan for what our new normal would look like. We quickly held an all-hands call and shared with our employees that we would not be doing any layoffs, no furloughs, and no pay cuts. We also increased our investment in our health benefits, to reduce the monthly premiums by roughly 30% for most employees. We committed to run profitability down to zero before we affected the lives of our people and their families.
The results of caring first for our employees was exactly what we would have hoped for — re-doubled effort and focus on shifting our business to support the current environment. Our employees worked together, around the clock to modify our process, approach, and offerings to match what customers need help with most. Sure, the shift to 'work from home' is one area of need, but the more exciting areas that EVOTEK specializes in became very important in a hurry, to nearly all companies. Cybersecurity Program Assessments, Ransomeware Solutions, Wireless Upgrades, Last Mile connectivity support for students, eLearning, UCaaS, and the list goes on and on.
As we take care of our employees, our employees take care of our customers.
So back to EVOTEK’s birthday. My vision for EVOTEK was to build a company that our customers want to do business with, employees want to be part of, that evolves quickly as needs change. As consolidation in our industry continues, we get weekly calls from organizations looking for acquisition targets. I believe selling a company is the worst thing that can happen to its employees and subsequently, culture. EVOTEK never has had an exit strategy and won’t! We are building EVOTEK to last and just this year, our leadership team engaged for 12 weeks to define our vision, core values, short and long-term plans for the company, which was announced a few weeks back. I am very proud of the company our collective group of leaders and employees have created. We have received numerous recognitions for culture, which I am most proud of. We have over 100 employees at the time of our 6th birthday and will finish 2020 over $300M in revenue. Happy Birthday, EVOTEK!
