Evolving Workplace Dynamics
In April 2021, David, Kris and the Squaredot team produced "The Sticky Workplace", an influential document reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on workstyles and what that meant for the workplace. Highly informative and highly praised for its relevance to the topics of that time, the study went on to inform the British Council for Offices paper on Future UK Office Densities.
Three years later, workstyles & cultures continue to evolve, affecting building utilisation and ultimately business efficiency. With much debate about the importance of providing an effective workplace, we’re delighted to announce our follow up paper “The Dynamic Workplace”, offering further insights into the issues facing many business leaders today.
Our new document discusses the evolution of workplace dynamics and hybrid working models in the post-pandemic era, emphasising the need for flexible office designs that accommodate diverse work styles and employee preferences.

The key themes explored, in The Dynamic Workplace, provide valuable insights into the evolving modern office environment and underscores the importance of creating dynamic and flexible workplaces that cater to the diverse needs of employees while also promoting sustainability and inclusivity.
Hybrid Working Trends:
Is hybrid working the right model for your business?
The business world is evolving and opinions on hybrid working are split. Many businesses embraced hybrid working from 2020 but are now calling for a return to the office, while others continue to promote this flexible way of working.
Employee Profiles:
As business leaders come to terms with the complexities of evolving office dynamics, employee profiles based on how they are utilising the workplace will continue to shift. Identifying these profiles and associated work activities is our key to determining the appropriate settings & facilities required.
Desk Utilisation:
How different is office utilisation today, compared to 5 years ago?
We explore and compare data from our analysis studies, highlighting the need to review and recalibrate underutilised spaces to better support the evolving workstyles and cultures.
Workplace Design:
How do we proactively design a workplace to support what employees actually go there to do?
In this era of change, getting this right will be all about flexibility and a dynamic workplace and will mean people will actively choose to return to the office.
Employee Engagement:
A successful workplace should be designed with the users for the users. Engaging employees in the design process is crucial in guiding them through new ways of working and nurturing a culture that will support the new workplace.
Sustainability and Inclusivity:
We look at the importance of sustainable and innovative design as well as supporting different groups of individuals and how this can provide a sense of belonging in the workplace.
With invaluable data and opinion, The Dynamic Workplace unravels the often-complex issues around work styles, building utilisation and the power of place, and discuss how these will influence "The Dynamic Workplace" of today, as well as tomorrow.
