Evolving our leadership at Lightspeed

We talk a lot about growth at this company. After all, we’re one of the fastest accelerating tech companies in the world. Part of how we make it happen in the face of incredible growth is evolving how we work to best suit those changing needs.?

Today’s announcement is an exciting next chapter in our growth story as leaders of the new world of commerce. As part of our long-term succession planning process, and with the support of our Board of Directors, JP Chauvet and I will be assuming new responsibilities that allow us to best meet the moment we’re embarking on.?

Effective immediately, the Board has entrusted me with the role of Executive Chair of Lightspeed’s Board of Directors. As a natural progression and well-earned promotion, JP Chauvet will now become Chief Executive Officer of Lightspeed. Read more in Lightspeed’s press release.?

JP is a visionary leader and longtime business partner; someone who has always shared my passion for helping small businesses grow. Having started at Lightspeed just over 9 years ago, he has proven his strategic acumen, pioneered our go-to-market strategy, led our product teams, and played a critical role in launching Lightspeed Payments. He was also instrumental in leading many of our acquisitions and our listings on the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. As Lightspeed continues its rapid global growth trajectory, becoming CEO will allow JP to lead our day-to-day operational strategy with a 360 degree view of our business.?

On my end, I’m excited to embark on the role of Executive Chair. Created to offer us more critical leadership as we scale, this will allow me to work with JP and the Board to set the strategic direction of the Company, but now with an additional focus on driving Lightspeed’s global impact, including stakeholder outreach and customer advocacy, as well as corporate social responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. My priority will be to ensure that Lightspeed becomes not only the technology partner of choice for businesses everywhere, but the employer of choice for the world’s top talent and a world-leading organization driving positive impact.?
