Evolving Leadership
I came across an interesting article recently about evolving leadership which challenged my thoughts about leading from the front....work with team, lead by example, showing how it's done or coach them and get out of the way. I think it's a balancing act, a situational leadership which could vary according to significance of situation in a business, on time and maturity curve.
Leaders ability to shift gears and communicating clearly when it's time to take or let go control is critical to the employees empowerment but leaders are responsible for creating a safe environment for employees/team to speak up and ensuring they will be heard.
Sometimes leaders feel compelled to make the decision based on their title, job description & authority in an organization. Leaders should take, back seat at times and allow subject matter expert to lead the conversation which doesn't diminish the authority of a leader but creates an inclusive environment and elevates trust.
To summarize I believe it's about finding a right balance between leadership styles to drive business decisions. Remember, a leader is not a super hero and do not have all the answers. Thoughts?
