Evolving in America: A Chat with Sandra Olisakwe

Hey there, Happy New week!

Last week, we had a chat with Sandra Olisakwe, MSPH where she discussed her journey, from before she traveled abroad to her experience studying abroad as a masters student, and how these experiences shaped her.?

When traveling for the first time, her immediate concern was communicating at the airport with her family and getting picked up after landing. She was not aware that she would have wifi on international flights and at the airport. Finding this out was a very amusing but welcome culture shock.

She was in Texas for a month with family (you're allowed to be in the US for a month before your program starts) before moving to Alabama. Getting there, she had challenges moving into her apartment because she was not allowed to move in until a week before school started. This proved particularly difficult because she had already paid for the apartment and her rent was already due. She had to stay with a friend until it was time to move into the apartment.
