Evolve With ETRUX
Welcome to the latest edition of EVolve with ETRUX, in this month’s newsletter you will discover the latest events we attended, meet the newest member of the ETRUX team and find out all about EV range anxiety and the new low emissions zones across the UK, plus much more!
But first, we were delighted to welcome the EV Rally to Belfast last month…
The EV Rally Comes To Belfast
At the start of July, the EV Rally embarked on a remarkable journey for ‘The Capital City Challenge.’ The vehicle entourage ventured from Cardiff to Dublin, via London, Edinburgh and Belfast...in just five days! On their travels they demonstrated some of the UK and Ireland’s most innovative and cutting edge electric vehicle technology.
?The ETRUX team was there to greet the rally team at Titanic Belfast on the 5th of July. On display at the Titanic slipways, we demonstrated the ETRUX Ford E-Transit welfare van, and the newly launched Watt eCV1 prototype, alongside the 7.5T EV Luton and 3.5t L2 E-Ducato Luton box vans.
We had also made available our overnight EV charging facilities to the rally team at our Antrim manufacturing plant.
This was the UK’s first EV rally, and it was a great event to witness and support.
?Meet The Team
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new ETRUX team member, Regional Sales Director for Ireland - Niall Molloy .
With many years of experience in the international transport industry, Niall will be establishing ETRUX as a brand across the Republic of Ireland.
Having worked for ETRUX for a few months now Niall says that one of the best things about being part of ETRUX is, “Well, the operative word here is team, and I work with a fantastic group of people from the engineers to the sales team, all of whom are tremendously supportive.”
When he’s not out on the road visiting clients, Niall is a self-confessed petrol head that follows all types of motorsports and is a lifelong fan of Formula One racing! Having even participated in motor rallying himself, Niall has a few trophies that take pride of place in his cabinet.

What Are ULEZ, LEZ And CAZ Zones and How Will They Impact Me?
To help improve air quality in cities across the UK, the government recently introduced:
London is leading the way and expanding their current zone to include all 33 boroughs of the Greater London area by August 2023. Other UK cities embracing ULEZ include Birmingham, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and Glasgow to name a few. With many more cities due to follow suit.
Drivers operating in these areas will require compliant vehicles to avoid additional charges.
The vehicles, this applies to, and the charges implied, currently vary from city to city. Typically, petrol and diesel vehicles meeting Euro 4 and Euro 6 respectively are permitted in these zones without charge.
If you’re thinking of upgrading your vehicle fleet to electric but are unsure where to start… talk to our specialist team about the EVolve programme which has been set up specifically to help transport managers simplify the journey to a carbon zero fleet.
Antrim And Newtownabbey Borough Council Visit Our Manufacturing Facility
We were delighted to welcome Lynda Gregg , Transport and Contracts Manager and Darren Purdy, Head of Waste Operations, from Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council to our manufacturing facility in Antrim in July.
During their visit, our Managing Director, Gerard Galvin and Lead Engineer, Gareth Pinkerton , presented a number of electric vehicle products that the team has been developing over the last number of months.
Pictured are some of our latest EV projects, including the 3.5t E-Ducato luton box with column lift, the 7.5t Repowered Isuzu Luton with cantilever tail lift, the Mercedes E Vito Crew Van and the eCV1 prototype with its revolutionary lightweight aluminium chassis.
Following a lengthy discussion around the challenges facing transport managers in the new, evolving world of electric vehicles, Lynda and Darren took the opportunity to tour our facility where we showcased our latest design capabilities and technology developments.
Factory tours are one of the most valuable activities we undertake – and we’re always encouraging our customers to come in and talk to us about their upcoming projects.
