Look, I get it; I've been there. It feels unfair, but that's how we're psychologically and neurochemically wired.?

We can tell ourselves comforting stories about introversion or shyness. Even if you believe those things about yourself, you will pay a high price over time if you do not confront their limitations. However, if we step out of our relational comfort zones, we can take advantage of opportunities in every area of life.?

Emotional intimacy is important in relationships because it fosters trust, safety, and a profound sense of security. It allows us to feel close to each other.?

Emotional intimacy or genuine connection brightens our mood by activating feel-good neurotransmitters: oxytocin, endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin.

Lack of emotional intimacy can lead to loneliness, resentment, lack of trust, love, safety, or support. That looks like the epidemic of loneliness we as a society are facing today.??

According to neuroscientific research, humans are hard-wired for connection. At our anthropological roots, 70,000 years ago, if you didn't belong to a tribe, your potential to become a midnight snack for some ravenous beast was significantly elevated.?

In our evolutionary history, individual brilliance was irrelevant; what was relevant was the brilliance of the tribe to which we belonged. Belonging is in your primal DNA!?

We've Become Strategy Heavy, Relationally Light.

Today's challenge is not discovering?new?strategies but reconnecting with this human essence.?

Step outside yourself to see another's hope, pain, and dreams!

Relationships may appear accidental; they're not. They're a purposeful choice. When you meet someone, do you think your strategy is to gain their admiration? Or is it establishing a meaningful connection?

The Power of Vulnerability

Vulnerability is a superpower! If you've been strategy-driven, there's a good chance that the idea of vulnerability is terrifying. You can begin a relationship by listing your accomplishments and accolades, but will that allow you to achieve real intimacy?

It's in the raw stories that we bond. Yes, you deserve recognition for what you've achieved, but without humanity, no one cares.

For example, I'm Dov Baron, who, despite global successes, I've battled internal adversaries of self-worth and debilitating beliefs about myself on every level. I've battled external adversaries, including being born into poverty surrounded by addictions, crime, and violence. As a bonus, when I was seven, my father abandoned our family, and my mother struggled with mental illness while working two, sometimes three, jobs to keep a roof over our heads and bellies full. Additionally, I suffered from a learning disability that still causes me anxiety.
