The Evolution of RIGITRODE?: A Legacy Passed Down

Every innovation has a backstory of perseverance, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Our journey, rooted in Environmental Elements Corporation’s (EEC) pioneering efforts, exemplifies this spirit. As EEC’s former subsidiary, EETC’s legacy rests on decades of technological advancement and unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. In this article, we delve into the evolution and innovation of the RIGITRODE? discharge electrode, highlighting its impact on our trajectory.

The Birth and Breakthrough of RIGITRODE?

Our story begins with a pivotal moment in 1981 when EEC developed a groundbreaking design that marked a significant leap in air pollution control technology. The project was a testament to EEC's innovative prowess. It introduced the first rigid electrode system with direct rapping into the top of the collecting plate, implemented in the #4 recovery boiler at International Paper Company's Vicksburg, Mississippi mill. This unit replaced an outdated Koppers precipitator, boasting 54 gas passages on 11-inch (275mm) centers and three fields each measuring 9 ft x 30 ft.

During the contract signing, the user remarked that if these discharge electrodes failed, our sales manager would have to eat a 1-meter piece of the electrode. Unfortunately, due to the exceptional performance of our discharge electrodes, our former sales manager never had the opportunity to have a bite of it. The unit exceeded expectations, meeting all guarantees and serving as a benchmark for future installations.

Technical Excellence: Design and Advantages of RIGITRODE?

Central to our technological innovation is the RIGITRODE? discharge system. Renowned for its low onset voltage and high breakdown voltage, this electrode has undergone rigorous testing and validation. Crafted from sturdy steel tubes with precisely welded discharge spikes, it boasts superior structural integrity and favorable voltage-amperage characteristics. Thorough annealing processes enhance its resilience, guarding against brittle fractures during operation.

Our discharge system is designed for reliability and efficiency. It features configurations for small-zone power supply within the electrical field, allowing for independent power supply and rapping based on dust characteristics. This not only enhances dust removal performance but also minimizes the impact of potential failures by isolating affected partitions. The multi-point rapping design further improves rapping intensity, preventing dust accumulation or adhesion on the discharge electrodes.

Continuing the Legacy of Innovation

Reflecting on our rich history and the milestones we’ve achieved, we steadfastly uphold our legacy of innovation. Our trajectory—from EEC’s pioneering designs to our present state-of-the-art systems—epitomizes our unwavering commitment to excellence in environmental technology. Proudly carrying EEC’s legacy, we persistently push the boundaries of what’s achievable in air pollution control and environmental sustainability.
