The Evolution of Quality Management
The ultimate goal of Quality Management (QM) is, defined herein, as the ability to manage the ‘quality’ of business operations; however, this discussion must begin with the evolution of the concepts that have led to a holistic understanding[1] of QM, as we understand it today. This modern era of QM arises from past eras that focused upon Quality Control* (QC), Quality Assurance* (QA), and outdated, process-limited, Quality Management System (QMS) solutions.
* Note: QA?is defined herein as the aspect of ‘quality’ management, focused on providing confidence that ‘quality’?requirements will be fulfilled with valid QC methods.
Today, ‘quality’ management relies upon principles, tools & techniques, systems, and technology:
1)??? The Quality Management System (QMS) is procedurally established the ‘standard work’ of the business, ensuring regulatory and business requirements are addressed, where and when applicable. Establishing an emphasis on compliance during execution is essential.
2)??? The Quality System (QS) is established with the compliant execution of the ‘standard work’ within the QMS, by the people who comprise the workforce.
Now... Implement modern era no-code eQMS technology to digitize the QMS ‘standard work’, as business process workflows, with built in automations and AI assisted verifications of compliance.

3)??? The capability for Quality System Management (QSM) is established through the capture, curation, and analysis of the data created from the outcome/results of the execution of each business process workflow. This enables the operational QS to be properly measured, monitored, managed, and improved as a system of business process.
4)??? Quality Management (QM) is management for improvement of the ‘quality’ of business operations. Every system has constraints. Operational ‘quality’ is improved when systemic operational constraint is addressed. Continual improvement is essential for increased profit, for business growth and improved value.
Stakeholder satisfaction requires business leaders to update their outdated ‘quality’ paradigm, in addition to their outdated eQMS apps that only manage a limited number of ‘preconfigured’ workflows. Modern era ‘no-code’ technology eQMS solutions can digitally create and manage any of the business process workflows that are utilized within your business operations.
