Can you imagine a world without Swiggy? Stepping OUT to get food from our favourite restaurants? Nobody has the time! To crave something and NOT be able to get it delivered to our doorstep?? That's crazy!
Having stayed away from home for 8 years, this has me recollect several of those instances of coming home to no food. Sure biscuits, bread and Maggi help, but till when?
What Swiggy did for people such as me:
After a long day at work, it gave me access to fresh, hot meals in 3 clicks. Swiggy spoiled me for choice in foods and restaurants around me, and made ordering super seamless.
I love researching about new restaurants, and found myself getting used to the ease in trying out different restaurants with a tap.
What Swiggy did for restaurants/businesses:
A lot of restaurants, cafés and QSRs that earlier relied heavily on footfalls, now easily made 30-50% of their sales via online ordering. In some cases, brands no longer required a huge capital to invest in a physical space setup.
This also doubled up as a plug and play model used to introduce themselves to customers in the area(s) their located in.
What Swiggy did for the market:
- My compliments to their market research that identified the need for convenient and personalised food-delivery system amongst us net-savvy Indians.
- Swiggy took a data-driven and customer-centric approach, and disrupted the food delivery market, despite a big player like Zomato being in the game for years.
- Besides employing thousands of people, they also deployed tech such as real-time tracking, and introduced food options ACROSS price points.
Swiggy caused a disruption that left a ripple effect on the minds of entrepreneurs such as myself. So much so, that my latest venture - @vavodigital is our attempt to be the #Swiggy of the #InfluencerMarketing world!
