The Evolution of Flexible Working
I am loving all the media focus on how workplaces need to embrace flexible working, but I believe workplaces have made more progress than you might think. We have come a long way from the days when it wasn't the done thing to acknowledge a life or any commitments outside of work. Now it is a rare organisation that doesn't have some form of flexibility built-in to their HR processes. Some companies have fully embraced the future and proactively promote flexibility with hours, jobs, workplaces and career planning all being more flexible. These proactive places are the ones people are queuing up to join, so let's take a moment to recognise early promoters and adopters of flexibility who pave the way for others.
The sectors that we see best embrace flexibility are Health, Education, Utilities and Government. Is your sector or organisation good at flexibility? Who do you think does it best?

8 年Really interesting Jacinta. The sectors you've mentioned as adopting flexibility well include the type of organisations where rostered roles are more common. In my experience flexibility and rostering can be more challenging. I've seen good progress in implementing flexibility at all levels in banking and professional services - who would have thought!
