Evolution of Fine Arts

Evolution of Fine Arts

The other day our communication professor at college discussed how writing blogs and expressing ourselves on topics like business, culture, patriotism, finance, and communication helps us building content to spread knowledge and ignite newer ideas!

I wanted to focus on understanding to express what knowledge have we gained throughout our lives which we can express in the form of words to the reader. Considering I have been involving myself in Art for a very long time and I understand how art is commercialized, I thought this would be the best topic to share my insights on. Fine Arts!

There are probably hundreds of forms of art, but I wanted to start my discussion today with fine arts which was the pioneer of what we see today in terms of design, fashion, Business and all other elements of life. So I went on Google to understand the very obvious, but very confusing question: “What is art?”

To my surprise, I understood that every single recognized website had completely different answers to the question “What is Art?”. Hence I decided to understand where did this all begin. Which form was the sole platform which gave rise to this amazing attribute in human being species?

The oldest form of painting known to human beings that have been discovered is 40,000 years old paintings in the caves of Neanderthals in Spain. Pre-Modern paintings evolved into the “Vitruvian Man” by Leonardo da Vinci around the year 1487. And the most recognized painting by Leonardo da Vinci was undoubtedly the “Mona Lisa” which was painted between the years 1503-1517. Jumping right into the modern times we have seen wonderful artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Prince, Yoshitomo Nara, Adrian Ghenie who have painted masterpieces with so much art and meaning.

Art has evolved from landscapes to figures to completely abstract paintings which today means so much in capturing the real-life situations and abstract meanings. And we understand that a lot of this evolution has been driven by the consumer needs of the painting. If we today visit the museum, we will notice how art have changed from being expressive real images to more abstract conceptualized images of understanding and meanings which reflect the reality of today’s world.

But since paintings have evolved, I was curious to understand if all forms of art have evolved at the same pace as the main form of art, depending on the evolution of the consumption needs of the visual consumers. And what I observed is that the paintings of the past used to express the artists’ world. Today, like business and marketing, where the Final products are always inclined towards the consumer, paintings and designs seem to have evolved parallelly. What the next question is if the evolution of art in all the other forms have also moved in sync with the needs of the commercials elements of a creative producer.

Starting from the way a supercar is designed to the way a song is written, we are all curious if they have also had similar patterns of evolution and growth while syncing with the requirement of the commercial space.
