The Evolution of Creation
Self Assessment
I want to start by saying - when it comes to coding...
It's honestly the meme I imagine when you show me most things in the engineering world (likely not alone there). It's all magic voodoo my brain needs Excedrin to handle. All that being said - it's something I have always had an interest in learning at least at even a basic level.
Learning
When "100 Days of Code - The Complete Python Course" launched at Replit knew it was the perfect time to jump in and learn. Within just a few lessons I felt like a wizard until I was quickly humbled after capitalizing the "P" in print. That being said, it was the first time I understood that I just tapped into another world that would allow me to use creativity in a new way that I previously lacked the knowledge to capitalize on. One thing I didn't expect as a takeaway is the mental state that coding puts you in... This ruthless desire to FITFO and lean in order to get to see this thing run on the other side.
With these noob coding powers I started thinking... Can I somewhat quickly build a thing with my trash level skills?
Creating
After the encouragement from Rob Schneider I decided I would make a funny, short text based game. It would be about a co-worker babysitting my children since we had joked about it before I went out on Parental Leave just a month ago.
So with my early learnings from the Replit Python Course I set off and started building it out with memories of my if statements and Elif lessons.
I got the game to run with various choices in a short amount of time. But I knew it wasn't what I wanted yet. So I took to ChatGPT to help me fill the gaps on what I didn't know yet to get me further.
It helped me better understand how to add a scoring mechanic to my little game. As long as I was asking the right questions to narrow down what I needed I eventually found the solution I was trying to get to. It was like having an experienced engineer meet me at my level to help me close the knowledge gap.
The combination of Replit + ChatGPT had just blown my mind. Not because it helped me create a silly little game. Because I just personally experienced the evolution of creation. We are living in a time where ideas can be formalized into something real, faster than ever before, without massive knowledge or learning overhead.
Using Replit took away the pain points and/or fears I had to start coding and made it fun. ChatGPT accelerated my ability to see what is possible if know what you don't know.

If you have always been curious about coding but felt too intimidated to start, join me on Replit . The lesson I wish I learned earlier - Don't be an over-thinker just start to tinker.
