AI is rapidly transforming industries, redefining innovation, and shaping the future of work. But how far have we come, and what’s next?
This post explores the three key stages of AI development:
1. Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) – The AI we use today! It specializes in single tasks, from ChatGPT, Alexa, and Netflix recommendations to self-driving car navigation and medical imaging diagnostics. It’s powerful but limited—it can't generalize beyond its training.
2. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) – A future where AI can think, reason, and learn across multiple domains like a human. Imagine an AI that can write code, create art, understand emotions, and solve real-world problems autonomously. While we are making progress with LLMs (Large Language Models), multimodal AI, and reinforcement learning, true AGI is still on the horizon.
3. Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) – A speculative future where AI surpasses human intelligence in every aspect—creativity, reasoning, and decision-making. This could lead to groundbreaking advancements or pose existential challenges. Could AI become more intelligent than humanity? How do we ensure AI aligns with human values?
