Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT have come a long way since their inception. From being mere tools for performing simple, repetitive tasks, they have evolved into powerful, sophisticated technologies that are changing the way we live, work and play.
As a futurologist, I believe that the evolution of AI and ChatGPT will continue at an exponential pace, and that their impact on society will only grow stronger in the years to come. I covered this point comprehensively in my new report titled 'Disruptive Decarbonisation', but here's what I foresee for the future of AI and ChatGPT:
- Increased Human-Computer Interaction: In my interview on 9News Perth with Monika Kos, we discussed how AI and ChatGPT will become more human-like in their interaction with us, making it easier for us to communicate with computers and for computers to understand us. This will lead to the creation of more natural, intuitive interfaces that will make it easier for us to access information, communicate with others, and complete tasks.
- Intelligent Virtual Assistants: AI and ChatGPT will be used to create intelligent virtual assistants that can understand and respond to human language, automate tasks, and provide information. These virtual assistants will be able to understand our needs, anticipate our wants, and make recommendations based on our behaviour. They will become an integral part of our lives, making our lives easier and more efficient. However, they will present many challenges navigating the complex world of security, privacy and identity as I cover comprehensively in my recent article titled 'Society's Concern with New Technologies: The Case of ChatGPT'.
- Personalised Learning and Training: As I covered comprehensively in my article titled 'Closing Skills Gaps in Emerging Industries with AI and ChatGPT', AI and ChatGPT will be used to create personalised learning and training experiences that cater to individual needs and preferences. For example, ChatGPT can be used to create interactive learning experiences that simulate real-world scenarios, giving learners the opportunity to practice new skills in a safe and controlled environment. AI can also be used to analyse vast amounts of data, identifying patterns and insights that would be impossible for humans to detect, and use this data to personalise learning experiences.
- Predictive Analytics: AI and ChatGPT will be used to create predictive models that can help individuals and organisations make better decisions. In my article titled Closing Skills Gaps in Emerging Industries with AI and ChatGPT', I featured 10 new technical roles that this technology will create. For example, AI-powered financial analysts will be able to use predictive models to make better investment decisions, and AI-powered medical diagnosticians will be able to use predictive models to diagnose patients more accurately.
- AI-Powered Automation: AI and ChatGPT will be used to automate more and more tasks, freeing up humans to focus on more creative, strategic work. For example, AI-powered supply chain managers (which I also featured in my 'Closing Skills Gaps in Emerging Industries with AI and ChatGPT', as one of the top 10 new technical roles that this technology will create), will be able to use AI to optimise their operations, and AI-powered content creators will be able to use AI to create new forms of content, such as text, images, videos, and audio.
In summary, the evolution of AI and ChatGPT is set to have a profound impact on our lives and work, making our lives easier, more efficient, and more fulfilling. As a futurologist, I can't wait to see what the future holds for these exciting technologies, and I am eager to see the new and innovative applications that will emerge as they continue to evolve.

1 年I’m in alignment with what prof has highlighted. The AI arena is quite turbulent at the moment… lots are happening in the Generative AI technology category — which is the category of ChatGPT and other OpenAI solutions like DALL-E and CodeX. I’m now seeing where some individuals and startups have figured out a way to augment ChatGPT’s large language model (GPT-3), thereby allowing them to tailor ChatGPT to suite their specific personal and business purpose. Really remarkable!
