Psalm 103:1-6

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;

    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the Lord, my soul,

    and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins

    and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit

    and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things

    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The Lord works righteousness

    and justice for all the oppressed.


Some of us may ask: What is a soul? It is the mind, will and emotions of a human being. Where do I find that in the Bible?  

-Genesis 1:27 (NIV) speaks of how male and female were created in the image of God and since God is a Spirit, therefore we also have a spirit.

-Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV) tells us “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”  God is saying: not only to love with my heart and strength but also with my soul (mind, will and emotions).

So, when we give Thanks to God (that is what praise is about), we are to do it with our mind, will and emotions which we control.

Looking back at 2020, what are you thankful to God? I encourage you to fully engage your mind, your will and emotions. You will be surprised at what how good He has been.  Be Blessed!
