Evidence-Based Writing
David Piro
Evidence-based writing is the literature or narrative format that attempts to communicate a claim that the author has about the objective world. That is, through this communication, they will use formal technics of applying metaphors, analogies, and other forms of evidence to support claims made in these writings. Evidence-based writing has different benefits one can be understood as applying a process that can be used to explain any field, allowing other professionals to cross communicate by example. In other words, “knowledge can be more easily transferred to other subjects.” (Albert, 2020)
In the past, I have used this writing to construct complex arguments and create claims that require professional support to illustrate technical expertise beyond my own. Thus, allowing me to provide critical evidence that could support and strengthen my claims. This is very important, as, at the Academic level, writing is different in the capacity that the subject matter and claims are often being made by our peers to further their field. Right now, my field, Computer Science, has writings about advancing the optimization of current machines from cars, spaceships, and household products. More importantly, Computer Science is best understood as a combination of fields, and the leading experts are often trained in something else, such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and more. Specifically, I have written essays for admissions requirements, conferences, and scholarships that require evidence-based writing to support claims. This is key for the use of “valid reasoning and relevant sufficient evidence.” (Yaron, 2016)
In the future, my evidence-based writing will be primarily used in my philosophical background as it is hard to not see the value in this method of critique. The critique will allow the appropriate use of a theory to amend and realign itself with the interpretative truth at the time, allowing appropriate responses to be made. For instance, we have entire companies like the FCC who regulate technology and test these products, they’re profession is to find inconsistencies in the current test trials of any given products. Further, this writing will allow me to gain support and reasoning to gather respect from many fields. More importantly, allowing myself to use my knowledge to make educated claims derived from evidence and my past practice that will in a sense, create a ladder of knowledge that my predecessors and their predecessors will be able to follow.
Evidence-based writing is basically expected at the Doctoral Research level, this is how major ideas are communicated across regions, states, and schools. The importance of presenting evidence does much more than offer support but shows a train of thought that follows the primary authorities of a given topic. Thus, furthering the claims being put forth within my own writing.
