Everything you need to know about your green CSCS card
Why do I need one?
A CSCS card acts as proof that you have undergone health and safety training and are not a liability to have on-site. It is not a legal requirement, but these days most construction sites will require you to have a CSCS card in order to work there.
How do I get one?
You can get a CSCS card quickly and easily with us. First, get in touch by calling 0114 205 5515 or clicking here:?https://www.portlandtraining.co.uk/contact-us. We’ll give you a call and get you all signed up.
You’ll have to complete a “Health & Safety Awareness Course”. An in-person course can be over in one day, or you can complete the course online in your own time. After this, you’ll have to do a 45-minute “CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test for Operatives” test. This part must be done in-person at your nearest test centre.
Is it just for beginners?
Other CSCS cards exist for more skilled workers, which can offer greater access privileges on-site. However, in order to get these cards, you need further qualifications. Therefore, if you are a skilled worker but don’t have a level 2 or above NVQ, you will also benefit from having a green CSCS card permitting you to access to work sites.
How long does it last?
The Green CSCS card remains valid for 5 years.
