Generative AI is creating buzz everywhere! ChatGPT is on everyone's lips. But do you know what Generative AI is all about?
Today I am going to simplify all you need to know about generative AI. But in a way that even a 10-year-old can understand. :)
Yes, Challenge accepted!
Simply put, Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create things like images, videos, music, and even text on its own. It's like having a robot artist that can come up with new things all by itself! How exciting :)
One way generative AI works is by using a special type of algorithm called a neural network. This neural network is trained on a lot of data, like pictures of cats or songs by a specific artist. Once the neural network has been trained, it can generate new things that look or sound like they came from that same data.
For example, if you give a generative AI system a bunch of pictures of flowers, it might be able to create new pictures of flowers that look like they were painted by a real artist. Or if you give it a bunch of words and phrases, it could come up with a whole new story or poem!
Some really cool recent uses of generative AI include creating deepfake videos that can make it look like someone said or did something that they didn't really do, creating realistic 3D models of objects and characters, and even composing original music.
One of the most popular uses of generative AI right now is in creating chatbots that can carry on conversations with people. These chatbots can be programmed to answer questions, give advice, or just chat about whatever topic you're interested in.
Another way people use generative AI is in creating art. Artists can use these AI systems to help them come up with new ideas or to create artwork that they wouldn't have been able to make on their own.
There have also been a lot of AI generated images showcasing imaginary scenarios. From showing?astronauts in bridal attire ?to imagining what powerful historical rulers would have looked like, Artificial Intelligence generated art has taken the internet by storm. AI-generated images have the power to show implausible visuals like?snowfall in Delhi ?or how life would be in the future.
AI artist Julian has created photos showing former US president Barack Obama and ex-German chancellor Angela Merkel having fun on the beach.? Now thats something we would have imagined!
In 1982, the Hopfield Network was created, which was the first generative AI model. DALL-E is a well-known generative AI model that can produce lifelike images from text descriptions.
Overall, generative AI is a really exciting and rapidly growing field, with new breakthroughs and discoveries being made all the time. Who knows what amazing things we'll be able to create with the help of these powerful AI systems in the future!
Although generative AI models are used to create new forms of art and entertainment, they can also be employed for fabricating fake news and propaganda such as below!
Remember to use Fact-checking websites to confirm the authenticity of a story or image.
Having said that, Generative AI is being used in a wide range of industries, including entertainment, healthcare, and finance. Here are some statistics on the current state of generative AI:

Both Google and Microsoft are heavily invested in the field of generative AI, and have made significant strides in developing new technologies and applications.
Google has several generative AI projects, including Google's DeepMind, which is focused on developing advanced algorithms for deep learning and reinforcement learning. One of the best-known examples of Google's generative AI is its image recognition technology, which is used in Google Photos and other services to automatically categorize and label photos.
Google has also created a platform called TensorFlow, which is an open-source software library for machine learning that includes tools for building and training generative models. Many researchers and companies worldwide are using this platform to develop new generative AI applications.
Microsoft has also invested heavily in the field of generative AI, with its own AI research division called Microsoft Research AI. Microsoft's AI researchers have been working on projects like text-to-speech synthesis, machine translation, and natural language processing.
One of Microsoft's most well-known generative AI projects is its chatbot, Xiaoice, which has been designed to simulate conversation with humans. Xiaoice has become incredibly popular in China, with millions of users interacting with the chatbot daily.
Microsoft has also developed a platform called Azure Machine Learning, which is a cloud-based service that allows developers to build, train, and deploy machine learning models, including generative AI models.
Both Google and Microsoft are actively working to advance the field of generative AI, and we can expect to see many more exciting developments and applications from these companies in the coming years.
Now the dreaded question again: Will AI take my job?
Generative AI has the potential to automate a wide range of tasks, which could lead to job displacement in some industries. Here are a few examples of jobs that may be impacted by the rise of generative AI:
It's important to note that while some jobs may be threatened by the rise of generative AI, new jobs will also be created to support the development and implementation of these technologies. Additionally, generative AI has the potential to increase efficiency and productivity in many industries, which could lead to new opportunities and growth.
