Everything starts with you: Rabea B?rnicke, Office Manager at OVHcloud in Central Europe

Rabea B?rnicke, Office Manager Central Europe, showed an impressive growth and initially started her career as an intern at OVHcloud in Central Europe. After completing her internship successfully, she’s working as an Office Manager now, taking responsibility for the daily workspace of the biggest office of OVHcloud in Germany and three Co-working spaces. Discover her journey and celebrate with us her development from an internship to be a very central part of the Central Europe team in Cologne.

Rabea, how did you come across OVHcloud?

Rabea: I’ve found the Human Resources and Office Management internship offer at LinkedIn. The description about the topics and tasks fit to my idea of this internship.

How was the recruitment process?

Rabea: I’ve been positively surprised about how structured the recruitment process was. I’ve got a first answer to my application by the local recruiting manager very quickly. During the phone calls and the two interviews, I’ve felt comfortable and always got quick answers about the opportunity to start an internship and learn more about the next steps in the company.

Please tell us about your experience in the first three months working at OVHcloud.

Rabea: I’ve felt very welcome in the whole Cologne office team right from the beginning. My internship leader has supported me all the time, answered all my questions and helped me a lot. Every single colleague has given me the feeling to be an important part of the team. I had the opportunity to work in little projects with the other teams, in HR and in Office Management and I’ve been able to learn about every aspect the work includes. Working in German and English was a great chance to develop my business English skills as well.

What advice would you give to people looking for an internship?

Rabea: Don′t hesitate to send your application, even if you don′t have a lot of experiences in HR or Office Management. If you are motivated to learn something new then go on, talk to us and we can have a look for some possibilities together. My internship at OVHcloud gave me so much more new contacts and opportunities – working as an Office Manager today is one of them.

What is your motivation to work for OVHcloud?

Rabea: My positive experiences whilst my internship! The atmosphere as well as the job. I already knew the tasks as an office manager at OVHcloud and was very attached to it. Besides, the after works with the colleagues have been a great opportunity to get in contact with the team. That′s why I am very happy about the possibility to return now.

What was the most exciting and challenging part in the role?

Rabea: For me, it has been challenging to get an overview about all tasks because there are plenty. I am responsible for one office and three co-working spaces in Germany so there is a lot of work to do. It is exciting for me the switch the role. During my internship, I’ve never been responsible for the Office Management just on my own and always had a backup. I’m working on bigger projects now, but I still have a great team supporting me, locally as well as internationally.

How have your tasks changed? Please tell us about a couple of projects you are working on.

Rabea: The biggest project is definitely to coordinate the office move within Cologne this year. There are a lot of tasks to ensure a good, coordinated move from one location to another. Moving the furniture for a whole office, forwarding the post for a whole company or coordinate the old and new key management are just three examples that have to be considered. I am currently creating a lot of Excel charts to have a good overview about everything that is important as an Office Manager and coordinate it accordingly. Happy to see our teams in the new building!
