Is everything solved by AI?

For the last 4-5 years we have heard the phrases like "AI", "Machine Learning", "Smart Systems", "Deep learning", "Analytics", "Data Science", "Our project based on AI", "We are developing an AI project", "We will solve the problem only by AI", "AI is the key to our problem's solution", "The ultimate solution is AI"... so on.

There are two things I want to say for those who uses the word "AI" more than the word "project" - "development" - "solution".

First one is do we need to use AI in everywhere? for every problem? Is it really necessary? The word "AI" is a "HOT" keyword that everyone wants to use..

AI/ML/DL/DS are some tools for solving problems, they should not be your "AIM", they must be your "tools" to solve your problems. Your project should not depend on (should not be based on) AI. You may use AI in some cases to solve your problem, if your problem is too complicated that cannot be represented with a simple formula or equation (or sometimes with a dictionary).

For example, I saw a data set recently, which I use dimension reduction and got that only "two" components can represent the %99 of the data. So it is a very simple, linear problem, and mostly you do not need to use AI or similar techniques. You can do your estimation/prediction with simple methods as well.

Second one is, is there really an AI? Most of the companies uses the word "AI" to become more popular but, in their solutions there is no AI. According to many sources, most of the companies do not use AI. And some of the "so called" AI startups, do not use AI as well

The final word...

Developing a solution is the most important thing in a project. You can use (some or all of the), programming, rule based approaches, dictionaries, formulas, manually entered data, statistics, machine learning, deep learning for developing the solution..
