Everything is possible.

One year ago, she was earning minimum wage folding burritos at a fast food joint. It was not very fun. 

One year later, she’s pursuing her dream of being a successful poet. And she’s earning money doing it, too.

What happened? What led to this change? 

What happened is…she decided to stop wishing and start taking action. Period. 

She wrote a chapbook of poetry. Got it published. Convinced a few local bookstores to put it on their shelves. And it’s selling. Not a huge avalanche of money (yet) but the purchases are coming through. One by one, they come. 

Every couple days, she gets an email notification announcing how much money she earned through sales of her poetry book. One day, it’s $40. Another day, $60. She’s ecstatic about every single deposit, no matter how big or small. Feels like magic every time. 

Last Christmas, she proudly purchased holiday gifts for her family using money she earned through writing poetry. 

She told me, I gotta say, writing poetry definitely beats working at Chipotle.

The woman I just described is my daughter, Cora. She’s 20 years old. 

Not long ago, she felt like it was impossible (or at least, very unrealistic) to make a living as a writer. Now, day by day, win by win, she’s realizing—it is possible.

Everything is possible.

Earning money as a poet, as a life coach, as a mystic, as a healer, as radical Christian feminist witch (I know one—she’s my client)—it’s all possible. 

Whatever you feel called to do, and however you want to earn a living—you can.

You just have to get your ass in gear, stop hesitating, and take decisive action. Make some power-moves. Email people to notify them about your services. Make some calls. Talk to a couple of local stores and bring samples of your product. Teach a class. Pitch the media. Bust a move. 

Work for that first win—that first book sale, that first client booking, that first rave review—and once you get that first taste of success, you’ll get an immediate confidence boost. You’ll realize, “I can do this. This is not just ‘possible’. This is happening. For real.” 

Whatever you crave, it’s possible.
