"is everything okay?"
Not my normal subject but as today is World Mental Health day, I'd encourage everyone to take a minute out of their day and ask someone "is everything okay?"
When we talk about health we normally focus on the physical but mental health is just as important, in the workplace and everyday life. As one in four of us are currently experiencing a mental health issue it is more important than ever to acknowledge the impact it has on us all. The recent support from members of the Royal Family and today's government announcement of a new position for a Minister for Suicide Prevention suggests that Mental Health is making progress in shifting the stigma attached to it.
When it comes to mental health, it is important to focus on the individual. However, in the interest of the business focus of LinkedIn, I thought I should end on a point that highlights the commercial benefit of investing in it. Recent research revealed that FTSE 100 businesses that used the words 'mental health' or 'wellbeing' more than twice in their annual reports last year raked in up to three times more profit than those that didn't.
