In his title essay, Fulghum reflects on how simple life lessons, known since childhood, guide a meaningful life. This concept led to a question: Can it apply to change management? How many skills we use as change managers have been with us throughout our lives? Here’s how the principles of change management have taught me everything I need to know about living well.
Embrace Change
In change management, the first step is to accept that change is inevitable. This principle holds true in life as well. Whether it is starting a new job, relocating to a different city, or facing unexpected events, embracing change is crucial. Resisting it only adds stress, while acceptance brings peace and new opportunities.
Communication is Key
Effective communication is the backbone of change management. Keeping everyone informed and involved reduces resistance and fosters cooperation. Similarly, in life, clear communication with friends, family, and colleagues builds trust and prevents misunderstandings.
