Everything from Silent Discos to Scottish Mavericks!

Hello pal,
Today I want to share with you some stories & learnings from spa & afternoon tea days, silent discos, tap water, mercury teeth fillings and a Scottish Maverick! (I know a random mix of subjects.. ?this is how I roll!)
?
Spa & Afternoon Tea Days?
For as long as I can remember my Mum, my Aunts and I have been having “Spa & Afternoon Tea Days” . We have been all around the UK experiencing these in hotels & country estates and I have no idea where this “hobby” came from but we absolutely love it!?
?
Since I have moved back to Scotland, our spa days have become a regular occurrence, so much so that I have a regular Friday meeting with a business partner and he says “right then Michelle, show me what hotel you are in this week and send me a pic of your afternoon tea!” hehe… I know this guy truly wonders when I do any work! :)?
?
But here is the thing…this wee family ritual has taught me the “art of being” (a true feminine trait) and I am so grateful that the women role models in my life have taught me to work towards my dreams & goals AND to simply be too.?
?
What I have realised over the years is that women are so much more powerful when we spend more time in our being state. There were years that I wasn't aware of this and I'd say I was in a constant doing state 100% of the time, I very rarely had an off switch. I have tried all variations over the years and I have some to realise that I need to be 80 % in my being state and 20% in my doing state. This is where my true magic lies. If you are a women I believe this is where your true magic lies! And if you are a man I believe it is the opposite, 80% doing, 20% being.?
?
I have observed that we work in a very masculine and doing society so what happens is, as women, we tend to shy away from upping the being because we start to feel guilt, shame, fear or scarcity. ?I know for a fact that I lean into these from time to time especially as an entrepreneur running multiple businesses. I know at the end of the day in order to live the life I live and earn the money I earn, it is down to me and no-one else. I take full responsibility for that but what I am realising more and more is that these “being” moments are crucial. ALL my best ideas, thoughts and aligned actions have come from my being state.?
?
So I encourage you to really embrace your being moments - perhaps its spa & afternoon tea days or perhaps its something else, go with whatever guides you into that being state. You never know you may just see multiple rainbows like we did last Friday as we were chilling on heated loungers :) SO MAGICAL!?
Silent Discos in Incredible Places
On Saturday night I found myself dancing away to 90s music at a Silent Disco in Glasgow's Iconic Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.?
?
I had found out about this event only a few weeks ago through facebook and managed to get two tickets from a friend who no longer could go. I had planned to take my friend as a surprise for her 40th birthday but in the end she couldn't make it either. So my 67 year old Aunty stepped in and oh my goodness she absolutely LOVED IT! The happiness and joy it brought to her was so special and it was so beautiful to witness.?
?
I picked her up at 8pm ( I KNOW 8PM!!!!) and we arrived for the 9.30pm start time and danced our wee tootsies off until midnight. As I reflected on the night a couple of thoughts came to my mind…?
?
Do you know why I believe silent discos are so genius ? They create a place where people feel free. Free to dance, free to sing, free to choose their music, free to just let loose, free to have fun and simply be. The headphones let people zone out from everyone else and focus in their on own world - no one actually gave a shit in this place - it was so refreshing.
?
We need more of these experiences for people in the world we live in. So I highly recommend Silent Discos - perhaps that could be your next midnight adventure! :)
Tap Water vs Alkaline Water?
For the last few years I have been drinking filtered tap water especially living in cities in Australia. Mainly because the majority of our water today are flooded with harmful chemicals & metals.?
?
?
For some reason when I moved back to Scotland I forgot all about filtering because to be honest I just loved the fact that the water was cold out the tap and not lukewarm like it was in Australia. However, I was reminded about the quality of tap water recently so I started to look for a great water filter and in particular alkaline water that didn't require me to buy single use plastic. I ended up finding a brilliant local Glasgow based company called Phox Water.?
?
There are lots of different filters out there varying in price but I felt that Phox Water was super reasonable and they came with the Alkaline packs which not all filters have and as you can see from the picture above - its made a HUGE difference to my water. I can see, taste and feel the difference so much, so I highly recommend them. ?

Mercury tooth fillings?
And as I write this my mouth is still numb from getting a mercury tooth filling removed and replaced with a safe and non toxic material.?
?
As a known neurotoxin, Mercury is a poisonous substance to your body and undoubtedly shouldn't be in your mouth. The longer you have silver amalgam fillings in your teeth, the higher mercury you will likely have in your body to affect your health.?
?
I was 15 years old when I got my first & only mercury filling but now it is banned for anyone 15 years and younger in the UK as well as pregnant / breast feeding women but not yet for all adults. Interestingly though my dentist told me mercury fillings are banned in the rest of Europe.?
?
Again, like tap water it was only a few years ago after visiting a holistic dental practice in Sydney that I found out how mercury fillings and their toxicity. It has taken me a few years to get around to taking action on this but I knew it was first on my list for sorting when I got back to Scotland - cost was a major thing as it is so much cheaper to do this here than in Australia.?
?
It was so interesting as my dentist was removing my filling she said “wow underneath this you have lots of decay so just as well we are removing this!” so another reason why it was a good decision. Interestingly when she was finished she showed me my tooth which was still black in colour and I asked why. She explained to me that the mercury filling had stained my tooth and it wont really change now unless I completely replace my tooth but she said my tooth was strong in structure so she didn't want to do that. It again reinforced to me how having these fillings is not good for us.?
Anyways, point of the story is perhaps this is something to look into for yourself, I know these may sound like small and sometimes expensive things but actually all these small actions are what contribute to good holistic wellbeing for you and your body.?
?
ps you will pleased to know I dont have a picture of my tooth/ mouth for you to look at, instead a funny pic to remind you that your teeth and oral health is important so make sure you look after them!

Why am I bringing this documentary to Scotland?
I first saw this documentary in May 2023 and immediately knew in my heart that I had to bring this to Scotland.? My deep belief is that our Indigenous People are the original Social Entrepreneurs. They are the ones that have a deep connection to Mother Earth and have lived in harmony with her for thousands of years. Their culture is to look after their people, their community and the planet something that most people and businesses are striving to achieve or have simply forgotten how to do.
I believe that to truly build companies that benefit people, communities and our planet then we must tune into the wisdom of our First Nations people around the world.?I believe the more spaces we co-create to simply listen to indigenous voices the better.
