Everything Everywhere as code, GitOps and Wazi Deploy

Parallel universes and multiverses seem to be pretty much the norm in Hollywood right now with Michelle Yeoh winning an Oscar for her movie that dealt with multiple selves but all grounded within her. And akin to that it is becoming more evident that everything as code is the future in IT - be it source configs, middleware, infrastructure, security rules et al.?GitOps has been around for a while and there is no reason why the #ibmz ecosystem shouldn’t be part of this.
Red Hat defines GitOps as “Git repositories as a single source of truth to deliver infrastructure as code. Submitted code checks the?CI process, while the CD process?checks and applies requirements for things like security,?infrastructure as code,?or any other boundaries set for the application framework. All changes to code are tracked, making updates easy while also providing version control should a rollback be needed.â€
In other words, GitOps takes the best practices of #devops to deliver infrastructure as code. Any updates to infrastructure or the application is to be made only to the git repo and the automated process handles everything else.

Two weeks ago, we GA’ed the first step towards #gitops for z/OS applications. Wazi Deploy is a GitOps based deployment tool that manages all aspects of a deployment workflow as well as the application state within git repositories. The deployment processes, environments, templates can all be defined in standard yaml and managed in Git. Wazi Deploy also has the ability to utilize the Ansible collections to deploy all aspects of an application - not just the source code but also eventually application infrastructure.
I am extremely excited about this initiative that streamlines deployment of not only application code but application infrastructure(middleware) definitions via a simple modern deployment framework. 1 å¹´Hi, the Wazi deploy proposal presented is still a bit far from GITOPS: static deployment does not allow idempotence and the infrastructure is not supported (request customers to purchase cloud broker). Suman Gopinath when do you think you will fill these obvious gaps?
