Not Everything Deserves a Medal

In some ways I feel I may be preaching to the choir on this one. Yet, in today's environment I am reluctant to assume so here is the open-cut, bandaid off, reality.
No, you didn't do enough to earn that promotion.
No, you didn't do enough to win that game.
No, she didn't love you that much.
Yes, your parents lied to you.
Yes, you were helped on that project more than you believe.
Yes, you were good...but not great.
And that's ok. We can't win every day. But we can learn from it and come back stronger.
And as much as I love the Olympics and our Olympians - no, Jordan Chiles did not deserve that bronze. She did a really good job, but not as great as someone else and that small sliver between good and great is all there is between deserving, and not. And let's hope we see her again in four years because her story is not done.
