Everything Changes and So Must I...Saying Goodbye

Everything Changes and So Must I...Saying Goodbye

After 6+ years as CIO and 31 years (on and off) with Accenture, I have decided it's time to move on. I am leaving Accenture in January and I wanted to share the news and reflect on what a fantastic ride it has been. I joined Accenture twice, in October 1988 and then again in July 2004 (if it’s worth doing, then why not do it twice). Throughout both my eras in the company I don’t think I ever asked ‘why?’, just sometimes ‘how?’. Memorable times across 3 decades – a brewery and distillery, a Stock Exchange, a global bank, a global manufacturer, 50 airlines, BPO Global Delivery, Infrastructure Outsourcing...and CIO.

There are too many stories to share from the years, but there have been some constants – risk, fun, comradeship, brothers and sisters in arms, and courage in adversity. I am truly honored to have worked for, in and lead the best teams on the planet. Amazing humans, all of them. We achieved so much and we had fun doing it. I want to say an enormous thank you to every single friend and colleague who has helped me with my journey at Accenture.

But everything changes, and so must I. I have a short-term plan and then a longer-term plan. I have always wanted to visit all 50 states in the USA so I am about to undertake a driving tour that will reduce the ‘not visited’ list to a small number (which can be achieved next year when summer arrives). And then the future...I’ll announce my plans for next year in due course.

I am really proud to hand over the keys to Penelope Prett, who will be Accenture’s new CIO effective December 1st. Penelope has held many leadership roles during her career at Accenture, at our Diamond Client accounts, on large transformation programs, and within Global Quality & Risk. Penelope has expertise and experience working with our platform and ecosystem partners and is also a leader in our inclusion and diversity efforts. I know I am leaving the family in great hands.

So thank you to everyone since October 1988. An especially big THANK YOU to the CIO global family. We did it, and then some. I am hugely proud of everything you achieved – and you are far from done.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Andrew

Andrew! I will never forget my first time meeting you at L3 in St. Charles you bravely sharing your Personal/Career Journey Line. I was an experienced new hire to Accenture and watched in awe and admired your wit, humor and vulnerability. I will remember you as an inspiring leader, fun, and great with our ecosystem partners and our clients. You are a rock star and will be successful wherever your next chapter takes you.
