Everyone’s Crushing It on LinkedIn? ??

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. Every time I decide to write about it, a voice inside my head speaks:
Why? This could go either way - might get trolled or it might start a stimulating conversation. Are you ready for it?
The more I scroll though my feed, the more I feel the need to write. It seems like everyone is absolutely 'crushing it' in their professional lives; Promotions, new jobs, successful projects, learning a new skill, certifications, getting a degree, a double degree — you name it, it’s all happening!
Let’s face it: LinkedIn is like a curated gallery of professional achievements. Have I done it, hell yes!!
I have been a part of the madness. We’re all guilty of sharing our successes, but there are only selected few sharing the struggles. The late nights, the failures, the moments of doubt? Probably not. It’s much more fun to post that shiny new title or the project that went off without a hitch!
Seeing everyone’s ‘success’ can make us feel like we’re falling behind. Do I feel envious? No.
It’s easy to get caught-up in the comparison trap, thinking, “Why am I not doing that well?” But remember, we’re only seeing the polished version of each person’s journey. Behind every success story are countless challenges and setbacks that often go unmentioned.
It is very important for us to keep it real: success isn’t a straight line. It’s more of a chaotic zig-zag, filled with ups, downs, and unexpected detours. Many of us are navigating uncertainties, learning curves, and moments of doubt, even if we don’t broadcast it online.
I feel it's critical to share failures and the lessons learned from failures too. It’s okay to admit when things are tough, and it can be incredibly empowering to hear others share their struggles.
You’re Not Alone!
In a world where it seems like everyone is thriving, remember this: you’re not alone in feeling confused or challenged. Success looks different for everyone, and it’s perfectly fine to be on your own unique journey.
Let’s celebrate the wins, but let’s also create space for honest conversations about the hurdles we all face. After all, that’s where true growth happens.

1 天前So true… so many of us present curated forms of ourselves not just on LinkedIn, Instagram but in person too! Perhaps if we start thinking of sharing the lessons we have learned then it becomes less of a polarising discussion on success vs failures?

5 天前Very true. What we don't see are the countless failures that come before a shiny win.
