Everyone Wins with this Good Deed!
As I begin to get back into the swing of things, assisting my present clients and welcoming new ones something became noticeably clear to me. Although we have always been a profession where asepsis and infection control have played a major role in how we practice, I know you all will agree that we now need to up our game even more than ever before.
With this, I am recommending to my clients that they consider bringing on a Sterilization Tech. This role can be filled by a new grad or even someone with no experience at all. Unemployment is at an all-time high and while this is a charitable thing to do, it also supports your current team by integrating additional manpower.
The benefits could be great, as we follow new guidelines and install new systems and principles. In the past I have suggested reaching out to externs to mange this area of the practice and now I believe we need to be thinking along these lines more than ever before. As for the wage level for this position, I always stress compensation that aligns with the job at hand, and although this would be an entry level position initially, it could lead to a more prominent role for the candidate that proves to make a marked difference in the operation of your practice.
I would think it would be best for you seek those that are considering dentistry as their future profession if at all possible, as this would be a great stepping stone for them to explore while this could become your “ diamond in the rough”.
With so many workers currently seeking employment I feel certain the pool of applicants would be plentiful.
Feeling philanthropic? You might want to consider exploring this as a possibility for your practice. I see wins all around!
