Everyone needs a 'Safe Place'?!

Everyone needs a 'Safe Place'!

We all know that we need to create a safe place for practising mindfulness. A really relaxing 'Safe Place' imagery should be ready in your mind. All the visualisations can be strengthened by ensuring you engage all your senses in building the picture in your mind's eye - it's more than just "seeing"! If you notice any negative links or images entering your positive imagery, then discard that image and think of something else which is more positive in nature and more fulfilling type.

I normally select my safe place by the window overlooking greenery or open sky or sea face if possible. I set aside just 15 minutes of my uninterrupted time for being mindful. Now close your eyes and breathe slowly watching your pace of inhalation (10 counts) and exhalation (15 counts) of breath. Now we create a picture in your mind of that place where you feel safe. Describe in detail what you see in your safe place. What sensations are you feeling in your body? and are you feeling any typical smells around? Any noises or sounds that may disturb your mindfulness and are there any other sensations you feel around you?

Now slowly you will recall those beautiful places where you have appreciated the sounds like sound of waves, or flowing spring water or a serene waterfall...now summon up the places where you've enjoyed visual images of jungle, natural lawn carpets, lovely greenery of plants and now you are enjoying a place where you can experience the elements that contribute to your happiness and you are feeling an experience of deep contentment and fulfilling life and now your mind starts opening up slowly, wow it is such a serene feeling.

Guided imagery for social anxiety involves the use of visualisation techniques to help your body enter a relaxed state. In other words, you close your eyes and imagine the sights and sounds of a place that you find relaxing. You need an expert in guided imagery therapy is a cognitive-behavioural technique in which a client is guided in imagining a relaxing scene or series of experiences exactly like we were experiencing in the paragraph above.

The term safe space generally means “a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, violence, harassment or any other emotional or physical harm. If patients cannot trust that spaces they enter are going to keep them safe, they are less able to feel secure enough to learn. Safe spaces and trigger warnings can help support victims of assault, PTSD and violence. A lack of safe spaces can also compound the mental toll of racism, even subtle racism. We need to be extra careful in creating such safe places which can be safe havens really speaking for presenting yourself to the mindfulness exercise.

Guided Imagery you can use it to promote relaxation, which can lower blood pressure and reduce other problems related to stress. You can also use it to help reach goals (such as losing weight or quitting smoking), manage pain induced by drugs and promote healing of patients. Scientific research shows that these mini-meditations can help reduce anxiety and improve performance. In fact, visualisations actually activate the same neural networks that actual task performance does, which can strengthen the brain-body connection in patients.

Guided imagery is a potent method available for reducing the effects of pain without the use of medication. If you take a closer look at how most pain medications work, they mainly block the messages using the pathways being sent to your brain from nerves that are at the site of injury or pain which normally decreased Pain Levels.

Make your safe place your happy place with practice. It is a place that makes your mind smile, calm down, and feel positive. It is a place that is safe, secure, and problem free." ... Always remember that anything is possible and your 'happy place' can become your permanent reality in this lifetime, Be at peace and be blessed! #kishoreshintre
