EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT
In the month of June we were undergoing extensive planning phase and were engaged into Academic-Administrative Restructuring, Budgeting, Planning etc. One of my colleagues entered into my office and started praising the procedural planning I did and during the course of discussion he quoted... "Sir, we have several staff members who sit idle in their offices in relaxed mood and are not bothered about the efforts and all these basic confinements on travails we face for planning and budgeting. It seems the the institution is being run by few staff like you!!!
This quote disturbed me, I smiled and replied, "Sir, we all are enchained with the system just like the mechanics of your Car are... The 'Mudflaps' of your car are of no use wither for you or for your car, you can very well travel from one place to other without those as well but they are playing an important role for the third party i.e. 'those who are coming behind your car facilitating them' and the same is the case with the 'Bumpers', they are playing an important role by 'Reducing the impact of an accident and also maintaining the Aesthetics of the Car. However, a car cannot move from one place to other without 'Engine', 'Tyres', 'Steering Wheel' , 'Fuel' or without any of these individual components as all of them have their own kind of confined role to play in the system.
I further detailed, that the same is the case over here. We may say that we do not require peons but they are the facilitators for the visitors, we may say that we do not require security but they are the one owing to whom we feel secured in our offices... in the same manner those members 'whom we are easily pointing our fingers to', might be having lean phase now but might be playing an important role during their operational hours... So, we must not point fingers on anyone until or unless we have gone to the depth of their job role or examined thoroughly the kind of inputs they are giving because what we consider useless might be useful for the system in one way or the other.
In short, Everyone is Important...
