Not everyone will get the virus – but every one of us is affected by it

At the moment, we’re living in a worried world. We’re all concerned about how coronavirus will affect us and those we love. People are concerned about when they’ll next see their families, finances, job security, sometimes even the basics of life – like food and groceries. And the question I get asked often “will life ever go back to normal?” When you sum it all up – there’s a lot on people’s plates right now – sometimes too much.

All of this on top of a health crisis. On top of being confined to our homes. And all while missing the things essential to our mental wellbeing – like going for a run, meeting friends for a chat, or the best of all – a simple hug.

In February, we announced that our new purpose is to reimagine energy for people and our planet. That “for people” part is really important. It means that where we can help people, we should do so.

So we’re going to start supporting Mind, the UK mental health charity. Mind told us that they’re seeing huge demand – their resources for staying mentally well during the pandemic have already been accessed over a million times.

We’re going to help Mind to help people. We will help them promote a major appeal for funds. And we are donating to that appeal, too, with what we believe to be one of the biggest charitable donations bp has ever made.

Our donation will help Mind respond to the growing, changing needs of everyone experiencing a mental health problem now and in the coming months. It will support children and young people. It will serve our communities when they need it most.

You will hear more about our support for Mind in coming months. In the meantime, Mind’s resources for staying mentally well during Covid-19 are very helpful.

Great gesture. Also try and stay fit in whatever manner you can at home. Healthy Body = Healthy Mind

Well done. My mother was a mental health worker for 45 years. The need is real.

Fully agree with your thoughts. Having retired from corporate life a number of years ago and supporting one of my lad's with his business, I have come to the conclusion that what was a passion of mine is about to become a new and challenging career change. Ready to launch a community interest company working with veterans to train and mentor them to deliver sports coaching and mental health support to the education sector and intervention programmes. Coming to the conclusion that we are going to have to extend the programme to others faster than originally planned. The very least we can do to support future generations through difficult times as well as helping today's heroes into employment opportunities. We are also working on plan's to work with emergency service workers to both help them and boost the capability of coaches to meet the demands. We are planning on taking our mentoring solutions into both professional sports academy's and the corporate world. Together we will help others to enjoy life in what will undoubtedly be a completely different world.
