May be this article writer has also joined the bandwagon of people trying to SELL something or the other ! Well, I know some statements are indeed funny sounding, while some are directly offensive, however, the intent here is to acknowledge that WE ALL ARE SELLING something to someone every time and everywhere. The question is, if selling is so integral part of our daily life, why aren’t we taking it seriously ? Why don’t we learn selling technics ? Trust me, social media, digital marketing, hashtag marketing will help to create that much needed ‘Visibility’, but then imagine your fruit shop is on road, visible to all potential buyers, but none stops by or those who stop, are not making significant purchase.?
Whom to blame ? Are your marketing efforts to be blamed ? No ! The one on whose head the blame goes is YOU. There is a clear cut difference between Marketing & Selling. Please do not get carried away with those glossy social media marketing advertisements, who promise you to generate leads. Learn to convert those leads in business. Generating Leads may be a complex tech-based process, but SELLING to those leads is an absolute SKILL and one must appreciate it. Systematic approach towards upgrading your Selling Skills will result in Growth in business, Growth in profit, Growth in number of customers.
First in Selling is “Self Selling”. Not only through posting some good pictures of yours on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, but by truly able to pitch yourself ‘face to face’ to your potential client. Until you master the art of ‘Self-Selling’ all your Marketing efforts will not give you desired outcome. This article is dedicated to all those marketing professionals and stalwarts from B. schools, who successfully “sold” their ideas of “Marketing”, (largely social media marketing and branding and stuff like that) to the entrepreneur population. Now it is time to work on the real Selling Skills.
