Not Everyone Deserves a Seat on Your Ship
In business and life, the company you keep can determine whether you sail toward success or sink into failure. A wise man once said, “Be careful who you let on your ship, because some people will sink the whole ship just because they can’t be the captain.”
As leaders, we often value teamwork and collaboration, but it’s equally important to recognise when someone’s presence is more destructive than supportive.
Not everyone you encounter will have your vision or best interests at heart. Some may prioritise their ego over the mission, creating unnecessary turbulence.
True leaders understand the value of surrounding themselves with people who are aligned, trustworthy, and driven by the same goals.
This doesn’t mean avoiding disagreements or challenges—those are essential for growth—but it does mean ensuring your team is focused on moving the ship forward, not tearing it apart.
So, take a moment to evaluate your ship’s crew.
Are they rowing with you, or are they drilling holes beneath you?
The journey is long and challenging enough without carrying passengers who would rather steer you off course.
Choose wisely.
Your leadership—and your ship—depends on it.
