Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, But Nobody Wants to Die
Lena had always dreamed of working in the tech industry in Sweden. She had done everything she needed to do to achieve her goal. She had taken online courses, attended networking events, and even got mentoring from industry experts. Lena had access to all the resources she needed to succeed, but despite her advantages, she was not making any progress in her job search.
Lena had a complaining nature and constantly felt sorry for herself. She would often say things like, "Why won't anyone give me a chance?" or "It's not fair that I have to work so hard just to get a job." Lena also had a bad habit of postponing things until the last minute, often procrastinating on job applications and other important tasks. And hardly spends time practising and polishing her skills.
Lena knew that she had everything she needed to succeed, but she didn't want to put in the work required to achieve her goals. She thought someone should do something for her instead of taking a step forward and coming out of her comfort zone.
One day, Lena met a wise old man named Oskar, who lived in a small cabin outside of town. Oskar was known for his sage advice, and many people would come to him for guidance.
Lena confided in Oskar, telling him about her struggles to find work in tech. She told him that she had all the necessary skills but couldn't seem to land a job.
Oskar listened intently and after a moment of silence, he replied, "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, But Nobody Wants to Die."
Lena was confused. "What does that mean?" she asked.
Oskar explained that the phrase meant that people often want success, but they are not willing to put in the work to achieve it. He reminded Lena that getting a job in tech required more than just technical skills. She needed to network, build relationships, and work hard to stand out from the competition.
Lena was sceptical at first, but Oskar's words stuck with her. She realized that she had been waiting for someone to give her an opportunity instead of actively pursuing one herself.
Lena started taking small steps out of her comfort zone, like attending more networking events and reaching out to people in the industry. She also began to work on her bad habits, like procrastination and complaining.
As Lena continued on her job search, she realized that simply attending networking events and reaching out to people wasn't enough to set her apart from other candidates. She needed to develop her technical skills to become more competitive. So, she started to devote more time to practising her technical skills and asking questions to improve her knowledge.
Initially, Lena found it difficult to find the motivation to practice technical skills. She was used to having things handed to her, and practising was something she had always found boring. However, she reminded herself of her end goal, and slowly but surely, she started to see the value in her hard work.
In addition to developing her technical skills, Lena also started to help others learn the things she already knew. She found that teaching others not only reinforced her own understanding but also helped her connect with more people in the industry.

As Lena became more proactive, she noticed a shift in her mindset. Instead of feeling like a victim of circumstance, she began to take control of her own life. She was no longer waiting for someone to hand her a job but was actively seeking out opportunities and making connections.
It wasn't easy, but Lena's efforts paid off. She landed an interview with a prestigious tech company, and this time, she was well-prepared. During the interview, Lena was able to showcase her skills and the initiative she had taken to improve herself.
The interviewers were impressed, and Lena was offered the job on the spot. Lena realized that she had to be willing to put in the work if she wanted to achieve her dreams.
As Lena started her new job, she remembered the advice that Oskar had given her. She knew that if she wanted to succeed, she would have to continue pushing herself out of her comfort zone and work hard every day. Lena was grateful for Oskar's wisdom and for the new perspective that he had given her.
-- THE END --
"Life is not just about the destination, but the journey too"
While we may have goals or things we want to achieve, it's important to also enjoy the process of getting there. We should try to find joy in the effort and hard work that goes into achieving our goals, instead of just focusing on the end result.
"Hard work and persistence pay off in the end".?
If we put in the work and keep pushing ourselves to achieve our goals, even when it's difficult or requires sacrifices, it will all be worth it in the end. It can be tempting to try to take shortcuts or wait for opportunities to come to us, but true success and fulfilment come from putting in the effort and not giving up.
