Everybody hates Salespeople

You are a salesperson, who loves to solve customer problems. Cause that’s what sales is really all about, right? It’s the core of sales. Solving other people's problems.

Sure, you have a title. You are an SDR, an Account Executive or the leader of a Sales or Revenue Team. And you hit numbers and make quotas and keep your pipeline tidy and full. You grow Revenue.

That’s your role. That’s what you DO.

But that's not who you ARE.

You are a problem solver. A good one. A great one. A trusted one. And building that trust takes time. It takes this one-on-one human experience. Deep meaningful conversations. Real relationships.

So why does everyone hate salespeople? Something’s gotta be broken.

There was a time when all you needed was a phone, a pen, a rolodex and an order-book. Today we have less and less time, but more and more tools. We build data silo after data silo and then jump from browser tab to browser tab, while watching our days being scattered into a plethora of micro tasks. Everything around us becomes automated and scalable except one thing: You! You are not scalable.

You can only make so many calls. Attend so many meetings. Close so many deals in a day. So the hard question is: How do we scale the unscalable? How do we grow Revenue without losing the human touch? How do we automate and still fit in?

I am Steven Morell and I am on a Quest to find out what Sales in the 21st century should look like. What is it that we need to start doing? And what should we stop doing for good?

Join me on my weekly Show for busy Sales and Revenue People. Each week my Co-Host and I take an influential bestselling business book, a big idea and then deconstruct it and put it back together to find out how it helps us become better salespeople. Better problem solvers. Loved ones, not hated ones. Let’s find out how to scale the unscalable. Let’s speak Revenue.
