Every voice raised against racism chips away at its power

Over the past few days, we’ve struggled with the brutal and senseless killing of George Floyd in Minnesota. This latest horror in a long history of racism, social injustice and violence against African Americans provokes pain, grief, fear and outrage. It highlights the work that still needs to be done to eliminate the discrimination faced every day by marginalized groups, and to create a society that is fair and inclusive.

We have to do more than witness these injustices – from the tragic violence against African Americans to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color. We must confront ignorance with knowledge, hatred with love, and complacency with action for equality. And each of us needs to acknowledge our own biases and privilege and create change from within. Every voice raised against racism chips away at its power.
