Every thing is pre-decided noting happens by coincidence

When I was reading “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho I came across a new word 'maktub' which means 'everything is written'. In Hinduism, it is believed that Sage Vyasa wrote Mahabharata and Sage Valmiki wrote Ramayan as predictions, i.e. before they actually happened. There are controversies, but that's not the point. This debate can go on forever. We cannot provide evidence of this being a myth or a fact. Even if there are proofs and evidences and scientific reasons, people will still believe what they want. Religious people will stay loyal to their religion (their understanding of the religion) and atheists, scientists will follow the science.

So whatever may be the real answer, when you cannot see the thing with your own eyes, you'll believe what you want to believe. Basically I believe in Karma. I believe that there is some supernatural force which controls everything, keeps positive-negative forces in balance, and does all the unexplainable things. It keeps record of all the things we do, the good and the bad, and balances the bad with bad and good with good.

I believe that if you do something bad, something bad will happen with you in some way. Which means, your present is the result of your past and future will be the result of your present. Future depends on what you do in your present. So, I would say, when you do something, it will definitely reflect in your future, so it gets written somewhere. X has done Y thing today, As a result, Z will happen to X in future. Something like this. Not everything is pre-planned, but Karma keeps record and takes care of the future. So, somethings are pre-planned.

According to me, we should focus on our good side and as a result the good in the world will keep on growing. Our consciousness is passing through them systematically. Since "frame" is "time" for us, effectively everyone are doing is passing the time. When I combine few slokas of Bhagavad Gita (e.g. Bg 11.33) and the modern concept of Eternalism (philosophy of time), I feel that all the life events have to be fixed. At many places Shri Krishna refers a term called "Bhuta", which means "already happened". In other words, all the life & beyond events have already happened. Depending on our consciousness travelling, we just perceive these 3 regions of "time" as:

"Past" = available in memory

"Present" = current moment

"Future" = unknown

We can give an analogy of a film or a story book. At any given moment, it's only a frame. But when the frames move faster, our mind deceives us by projecting it as real events. In real life we mistakenly call this "moving of frame" as "time", but accordingly to Eternalism, this "frame" itself is "time". Every frame of this spacetime universe is predefined and hence equally influential (neither less nor more but exactly of same). Which means, 9/11 attack, 2nd world war, you reading this post, someone walking on the road, fish swimming in water are equally important frames.

Depending on perception & observer, some frames generate more influence and some remain indifferent. This "indifference" is the key to God. Let's go bit in spirituality. So what difference can we make by our actions? Result-wise nothing. Neither can we make any difference at body, mind or environment level. But perception-wise (how do we perceive the events in term of influence) our consciousness would divide any (pre-determined) action in 3 ways: Ignorance (Tamas), Attached (Rajas), Detached (Sattva).

Tamas: When we are not fully conscious, we just let the events pass through us. This is more like dumb or foolish treatment of self. One doesn't have a clue, why something is happening, be it good or bad, pleasant or non-pleasant? Usually animals or the people with animalistic nature possess this. This state continues until the consciousness is not awaken. Tamas by its virtue is nature of dumbness, during which one just go with the flow without understanding anything.

Rajas: When we are conscious, we might get influenced by the set of events. Due to which we perceive something to be "good" or "bad", then that's an "attached" action. Those actions lead the consciousness towards such regions, in which those "good" or "bad" effects tend to diminish. This travelling is also called fruits of "Punya" or "Paap". This state continues until the sense of neutrality or indifference is not achieved. Rajas by its virtue is nature of excitement, during which one struggles in the flow wrongly understanding it.

Sattva: When we are conscious, yet we don't get influenced by the set of events, then it's on the right track! It's like being conscious but experiencing something as of not conscious. The other terms for this are: "Nishkaam Karma", "Desire less Actions". This state continues until the original nature, which is Avyakta Shunyata (Unmanifested Void), is not achieved. This is also the true nature of God (Nirakara, Nirgun). Sattva by its virtue is nature of peace, during which one understands the flow correctly and flows with it. Majority Avatar of God possess predominantly this nature.

In a nutshell, "Body" (or even may be "Mind") wise a person might be doing a single action only. It's just the consciousness residing in that body differentiates from other consciousness. Hence we cannot be judgemental about anyone from their outer periphery or even inner thinking. Because "consciousness is beyond body and mind". All these consciousnesses ultimately belongs to the one who has created everything (God!). This consciousness also can be perceived to be a subtle element like "soul".

When body is no longer fit to carry that consciousness/soul at certain frame reached, then that soul gets transferred depending on its last state to some other body, which fits it. It's also called "Reincarnation (next birth)". This new body might be in our so called past, present or future; After all, all frames are same! Sometime, the consciousness doesn't have to fit any body, as it's done with the travelling, then it merges with the One (god). This state is also called Moksha (liberation).

Everything can only follow what has come before. It is not possible for anything to do otherwise. All that is and was and will be follows directly from billions of years of events. It is literally not possible for you or me or anyone else to say, think, or do anything that we weren’t going to do in the first place. Not because of some supernatural concept like “destiny”, but because everything builds upon other things. That’s why when people talk about “free will”, I have to correct them. There is no such thing. Our perception of free will is an illusion brought about by our brains being slightly more complex than some other organisms. From our perspective, we are thinking, reasoning, deciding, and acting according to our individual wills.

But all of that is based upon events that both predate us and have nothing to do with us. We can’t see or comprehend all the countless small things that led to each and every part of our lives. Some thus attribute special meaning to humans, to individuals, because accepting that we are merely part of this flow of events would offend the arrogance of humans. Others assume A Wizard Did It and that this is all somehow “decided” or “designed”, because, again, there’s no way humans could just be a meaningless speck of nothing in a vast, uncaring cosmos, with no relevance to anything, and no purpose… Because that would also offend human arrogance to accept.

We are organic computers. Nothing more, nothing less. Computers that grow and adjust to changes, but every part of everything is a certainty that it can only have happened the way it happened. There were no other options. It’s difficult to wrap one’s head around, I know. I used to object quite strenuously to the idea. But everything is preordained. Even my responses. That it does not seem that way to me does not make it any less true. Cheers!

Hi Kishore Shintre Cheers, thank you for sharing. Let’s us trust God. Let God be God and commit everything to Him. “In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). Those who see God’s hand in everything can best leave everything in God’s hand. There are two things that are inseparable, for to trust God is to talk to Him, and to talk to God is to trust Him ! Right happenings are dependent on the Lord’s arrangement and orchestration. No matter how intelligent we are, we cannot put ourselves at the right place at the right time a 100% of the time. Only God can do this for us. It is very important for us to stay humble (Psalms 25: 9) and lean on the Lord for wisdom , guidance and understanding.

Exactly, self-reflection helps us to challenge assumptions that are getting in our way. It's a great tool for personal development.
