If you look at the success story of the all time great personalities of the history, like Tom Watson Sr. once said" if you want to succeed, double your failure rate". Here are some live examples: Walt Disney as a young cartoonist faced many rejections from the newspapers editors, who said that he had no talent. Thomas Alva Edison failed approximately 10,000 times while he was working on the light bulb. Henry ford forgot to put reverse gear in his first car. J.k Rowling faced many rejections for her book on the Harry Potter. Abraham Lincoln faced many failures in business at the age of 21 and many more failures in his political career. Noah Webster took 36 years for compiling Webster's dictionary. Like this there are many more great personalities who also crossed the path of failures for their great achievements. Closer to home in India too we have many such success stories to be told.
At the age of 23 (to be precise,in1983) a young man came to Chandigarh so as to support his family along with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters (This guy is not the eldest but is surely the smartest). He took up a job with a firm , which, required travel to different places (Sri Lanka at times). This guy would always travel alone, leaving his family behind to be in sync with his job. After working for 8 years, when he was of around 31yr of age, the company he was working for went bankrupt. He had the responsibility of his wife, a son and a daughter but he lost his only source of income
Due to circumstances he did not get any help from any quarter. Even his siblings did not extend any help thou he himself had supported them through tough times. Helped them in settling down in life.He had to live in a modest room 8*10 with his family of four . Thou the odds were against him ,But he never felt disheartened and kept on working with immense dedication ( he even worked on per day income basis to support his family). He suffered a huge loss and although the circumstances had his back pinned to the wall, but this young man never gave up and persevered.
There were times when even a decent meal seemed like luxury. As an effort to ease his burden, His ever supportive and loving wife opened a small boutique to earn a little more. Then they were able to save enough to get their children quality education and living comforts. Everything seemed to be falling in place and life was coming on track. But he suffered an emotional setback, when his siblings refused to give him his share from their paternal property. It wasn't about the money for him.
Things looked bleak but he didn't stop there. With his vast experience he started trying for other jobs. He was working for an MNC in Chandigarh itself by then. Everything was getting better now and he also gained some financial ground. He was on a reputable post and his wife also took up a govt job. But he continued to fight , to strive for more. Lady luck finally smiled upon him and because of his efforts and zeal, he got selected in UNO the world's best organization to work with. He had to leave his family behind for sometime due to his responsibilities pertaining to his work.
His constant hard work and dedication bore fruit and today after 25 years, at the age of 50 he was well settled. He owns a duplex independent house in one of the top residential areas of Chandigarh and can afford all the comforts for a happy content life. He is one of the cream from Chandigarh to work for UNO. From modest living under bleak circumstances, he has come a long way. Today he is in a position where he can afford all the luxuries his family demands. His daughter is currently pursuing law and his son is trying to put his admiration to words for his father in front of you all.

In a small village in Japan, there lived a boy. His family was poor and was into farming. He left the school at the age of 9 and started to work as an attendant in a small shop in order to support his family. Many years moved on and also his destiny. He got a job in an electrical company where he got interested in electric bulbs and sockets. After his working hours, he used to experiment on bulbs and sockets and in due course of time, he made an improved version of a light socket by himself and showed it to his employer. His employer discouraged him stating that it won’t work and it was not a good idea.
He wanted to do something on his own by starting his own company. Even his friends and family discouraged him by saying that he couldn’t and its a bad idea to leave his permanent job to start his company. He hardly has any education, very little money and of course very little experience and the major asset he has is the belief in himself. At the age of 22, he made a life changing decision by starting a small manufacturing unit by himself. He and his wife started to manufacture sockets and bulbs in his house. As a blow to his newly started business, he didn’t get many orders and neither did he find any person is interested to buy his products.
Being lost his hope, he sold his furniture so that he can get money to survive for few more days and within the course of time, he thought to give up his dream and move back to his job. But one day, as Destiny planned, he got his first major order for 1000 bulbs. Years passed with successes one after the other and then his company crossed over 3.50,000 employees and with an annual turn over of $65 billion and his products are being sold across the world. All this was done by a man who has very minimal education, without any money and all that he has was a belief in himself. His name is ‘Konosuke Matsushita’ and the company that he started in his home and his brand has now become popular across the globe as "Panasonic". As per the 2012 business reports, it is the fourth largest television manufacturer in the world. and the company manufactures other electronic home appliances too.
Just like him there is another success story from the same country Japan. It is about Koichiro Honda. The billion-dollar business that is Honda began with a series of failures and fortunate turns of luck. Honda was turned down by Toyota Motor Corporation for a job after interviewing for a job as an engineer, leaving him jobless for quite some time. He started making scooters of his own at home, and spurred on by his neighbors, finally started his own business. Akio Morita is another such example : You may not have heard of Morita but you've undoubtedly heard of his company, "Sony". Sony's first product was a rice cooker that unfortunately didn't cook rice so much as burns it, selling less than 100 units. This first setback didn't stop Morita and his partners as they pushed forward to create a multi-billion dollar company. There are several such success stories which started with failures. Cheers!
