The 1950's busman's study showed us the effects of inactivity, and it's every bit as relevant today.
Every step may matter - aim for 20-30 minutes daily, but snatch 5-10 minutes here and there too.
From the authors of the below article: "Increasing activity at the population level is challenging, and sustained behaviour change is the holy grail of primary care and public health. Walking is one promising target for intervention. It is simple, affordable (free), achievable even for older adults, and rarely contraindicated."
