How do I get my team excited about rapid growth?
In a coaching call recently, a client shared a very real and common challenge, “We are in a fast growth cycle and everyone is overwhelmed, exhausted, and anxious about what lies ahead. How do we get them excited about growth?” I understand why owners and senior leaders are excited about growth - it usually translates to more money as you realize your vision.?What does it mean for others in the organization??In the absence of information, people will always make things up. In this case, they often don’t see growth as ‘exciting’, they see it as fewer evenings and weekends with their family and friends. As you communicate the vision of rapid growth, how do you answer some of the painful questions that are rumbling underneath the surface? If you show compassion and collaboration, they’ll likely show courage and commitment as you battle the storms associated with growth.
Every problem you face comes down to one thing.
Every problem you face and every big problem the world faces, ultimately comes down to one thing?according to?Peter Diamandis, entrepreneur.?Distribution. We produce enough food in the world but?distributing?it to?the hands of those who need it is a problem. We have medicine, money… you name it, we’ve got it. Your leadership issues also come down to distribution. The way you package and ship your vision, values, and expectations will determine how it’s received and distributed through the channels within your organization. Successful leaders know that the distribution problem to prioritize, is the communication supply chain.
Find something really hard to do.
About 5 months ago, I was over 200 pounds, had a hard time rolling out of bed, and consumed way too much alcohol, sugar, and fast food. Today, I’m almost 30 pounds lighter and get up at 5 am each morning. What made the difference? I’m going after something that is incredibly hard for me. At the end of May, I ran my first 50 km ultra marathon. That was the first step to the final goal: a 100 km run at the end of June. My 10-year old son asked me why I’m doing this and the true answer is because I don’t know if I can but I really want to find out. Oftentimes having a goal that’s really, really hard can be that keystone trigger that changes everything else in your life.
When do you mobilize your weapons?

We all find ourselves in a situation where we become weaponized. Those times where we get triggered and react sharply and attempt to inflict emotional pain on others. What I’m reflecting on is what those patterns are. So far, I find they often boil down to some form of scarcity. A scarcity of time, money, love, appreciation, or progress. What situations do you find yourself most weaponized? In the podcast, I talk about how you can spot the unproductive patterns, so you can choose if the cost of war is worth it, or if a?measured and meaningful approach?will get you further, faster.
