Every Point Counts

Every Point Counts

Today I want to share a story and a lesson with everyone about Team work.

Some of you, as old as I am, will remember on March 28, 1990, Michael Jordan scored a career-best 69 points in the Bulls' 117-113 overtime win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jordan shot 23-for-37 overall (2-for-6 on 3-pointers) and was 21-for-23 from the free-throw line as he led a consistent scoring attack all game. He scored 16 points in the first quarter, 15 in the second, 20 in the third, 10 in fourth and eight more in overtime.

He also grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds, becoming one of six players with 60-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in a game since 1986. At the same game there was a rookie, name Ronald Stacey King. Mr. King on March 28th, 1990 scored 1 point. It was a free throw point.

When Stacey King was interviewed after the game they asked him… “What did you think of the game?”.  He said, "it was amazing what Michael and I did with a combined 70 points! "

And he would be right. Because as I stated, the Bulls won in overtime. If Stacey did not make that 1 point the Bulls would have lost, even with the greatest achievement of Michael Jordan, his team would have lost the game.

This story reminds me of the contribution that every person in an organization makes no matter how big or how small is relative. It's not about just the 69 points of a superstar, rather it is the 1 point that every and each of us contribute daily.

Thank you! Thank you, for your 1 point and just know, each one counts.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Wu
