On Sunday evening I went to the small tailor, operating from a balcony of?a room.?His major work was doing stitching bidding etc and fixing buttons to the clothes. He used to get this type of business from few established tailoring firms.?So it was a sort of Outsourcing.
I wanted to alter few of my clothes I explained him that proceeded for shopping
I?returned to him after almost an hour?of shopping. To my surprise, i saw?clothes lying half done.
?
Even after waiting?then for?almost half an hour i was
exhausted of my patience.
?
He was searching for "threads of Matching Red color" for stitching the places where he had made the alterations and also for fixing the buttons.
?
I noticed various Shades in Red in the drawer of his sewing machine and?I tried to suggest him?some of them also.??But he was not happy with the material he had.?Ultimately he found one reel, matched the shade in the light, tried to cut the thread by hand, by teeth and all his other QC??parameters. Appeared to be satisfied, but again rejected that sample too.?
He at the last option went out,
"Please wait saab, i will come in a moment". He took that rejected sample with him and went.

Quickly he came back with fresh new reel of Red color thread,?finished our work.?I was happy because the shopping adventure was completed, wife was happy because she got the "Right" things.

Considering the time and money he spent on our work was not profitable to him. In fact our job was a loss to him.
With great curiosity I asked him, what problem he had with so many red color threads he was having? And why he purchased fresh reel for a single job?
He didn't charge us extra also.?
?
He said
" the one you saw, which matched, will release the colour.?It will fade after two three washes. Or it will spread on the clothes.Your dress will get damaged.?And above all, i don't want you to say I have spoilt your dress.
'I do not want to listen from my customers that I couldn't do such a small work also perfectly"

Sir, smaller the job greater the risk of loss of goodwill.

It was big eye opener for me too.
