Sunday, connected with four old friends. We discussed many things along with what is happening in respective companies. I could hear a deep breath, could see nodding head with helplessness and heard few statements like:
" Don't ask"
" Chaos"
" Productivity has down" etc.
The discussion ended with one statement, "Kya kar sakte hey? (What can we do ?) We will follow what the boss says. That's all."
These conversations I could relate to the book ' The Leader Who Had No Title' by Robin Sharma. In this life-changing book, he shares how we can lead our lives without having tiles or so-called great roles. The book carefully crafted and mentions four natural powers which every human being carries and very relevant during the turbulent time.
Power # 1 Every one of us alive in this moment has the power to work with dedication each day and express the Absolute Best within us. Let's share responsibilities. Let's control all the distractions around and work. We are not doctors; doctors are giving their best. We are not trained to save lives; let's save jobs. Our organizations need us as much as we need them. And you need no title to do that.
Power # 2 Every one of us alive today has the power to inspire, influence and elevate each person we meet by the gift of a great example. Tough is testing our mindset, and we all have the power to transfer our energy to others. Let's stop spreading panic and negativity and make the declaration to remain optimistic. Our organizations need us as much as we need them. And you need no title to do that.
Power # 3 Every one of us alive with life can passionately drive positive change in the face of negative conditions. Every day we are writing our story and leaving the lessons for the next generation at work in life. Our organizations need us as much as we need them. And you need no title to do that.
Power # 4 Every one of us alive to the truth about leadership can treat all stakeholders with respect, appreciation, and kindness - and in so doing, raise the organization's culture to the best of the breed. An organization's culture gets tested during crises. How do we treat all the stakeholders? Let's commit to our stakeholders. Our organizations need us as much as we need them. And you need no title to do that.
Each one of us has the power of switch within. We all have these true powers, and it is up to us not only to recognize that we have them but to also flip the switch. And in so doing, we make a fundamental choice that will radically transform the situation at work. It is a profound choice we have before us now. Our organizations need us as much as we need them. And you need no title to do that.
