Every New Situation Demands a New Version Of Ourselves, And Hence...
There are a lot of things that go unappreciated during the regular 9 to 5 life so I’m utilizing the self-isolating time to appreciate such things around me.
To appreciate Something, one must experience that Something, and, to truly experience that Something one must be fully “Present”. I practice "being in the present" by bringing my attention to my breathing. It keeps me calm and have a clear thought process and saves me from being overwhelmed by the situation around. In these testing times, it’s even more important to be in the present and not let anxiety take over.
These testing times are challenging the way we think and are forcing us to #CHANGE the way we approach and do our #business.
There is a slow down across industries, companies are incurring losses, employees are put on unpaid leave for an uncertain duration, many have lost their jobs and many are working from home stressed about what the next email from their Communications team is going to be about.
Yesterday, I was practising 'being in the moment' and appreciating the natural beauty around me- Clouds. They keep moving and making different formations every minute, which is not a discovery, but, it sparked a chain of thoughts in my mind.
Here are my takeaways from this exercise of appreciating things around myself and some resulting thoughts that can help us navigate the #Pandemic.
The clouds are a perfect example of the age old proverb “Change is the only constant”. Have you watched clouds moving? The way they float and merge without any friction to create a new formation is so beautiful and calming to observe.
Companies and Professionals, to avoid friction and loss of valuable time, must internalize that Change is constant. Every new situation demands a new version of ourselves and hence, building the muscle to navigate change in our professional life (or even personal) is essential. The stronger this muscle is, the better we feel and perform.
Just like the clouds come together from different directions to produce rain and give us relief from the heat- People, Businesses and Governments must come together to relieve Humanity from this Pandemic. Each one of us must play our part and extend support in every way possible- to individuals, groups, communities, companies. Larger and least affected Organisations and Professionals must come forward to help those who are bearing the brunt of this Pandemic.
This is the time when we should truly go beyond what is expected from us as indviduals or a Company by our customers and the community. This is the time to prove that our businesses aren't just to make profits. This is the time to prove that we think beyond transactions and are truly with our customers and community.
By keeping Compassion, Collaboration and Innovation as the core guiding principles during these Revolutionary times, we will come out as (much needed) better versions of ourselves- individually, as a community and as humanity at large.
NOTE:The pictures above are clicked by me at different intervals of the day showcasing various formations of clouds that untimately led to a soul-relaxing rain.
