Every day is Vital

It's funny these days, the perspective you gain. Funny in the way of "like, how did I not see this before?" funny.
I find I’m doing vital work each day, every single day I think in my head what I accomplished and who I interacted with and lately every single day has been an astounding, yet sometimes exhausting 10/10.
I'm not going to pretend that my job is as vital as any of our frontline workers, but I don't think vitalness is black or white.
I believe if you are doing work that helps others, you are doing vital work.
Work that helps others is sometimes easy.
However, the last 4-6 weeks I've learned that it can also, in extraordinary circumstances it can be reallllllly hard.
But then, the first thing I think of is that my extraordinary circumstances are someone else's ordinary ones. The next thing in my brain is exactly this: I'm f*&king grateful for my circumstances.
So, this has come full circle... and you know what's still important? That you are damn lucky to be wherever you are. And that any work you're doing - if it's helping others, is vital.
Now, because it's Friday... go enjoy your weekend with your family.
But when Monday comes, get to work.
-----> Thank you to all our front-line workers, we appreciate you. <-----

4 å¹´Shawn Freeman, you had me at, "I believe if you are doing work that helps others, you are doing vital work." Like you, I reflect a lot on how grateful I am. Big picture, I was born in Canada. That's like winning a letter that I didn't even have to buy a ticket for - I'm just lucky. I live in a city that, in spite of all the challenges in the energy sector, is incredibly resilient. Calgarians are *Can-Do* people... with a relentless mindset "How am I going to become better because of this?" vs "How am I going to get through this?" If your work helps others, you're doing vital work! Keep it up.

4 å¹´Thanks for sharing Shawn Freeman. These times are calling for vital work 7 days a week. But I will make some time to relax too.
