We ask many questions when it comes to swimming .....
- Is swimming a good way to loose weight ?
- Is swimming fun ?
- Does swimming tone muscles & build up strength ?
Well , I acquired basic swimming skills as a child, and after a long gap of many years (almost two decades) , I have taken up swimming again only because the answer to all the above question is BIG YES.
Swimming is a healthy activity that you can continue for a lifetime. It's relaxing , improving body coordination & improving flexibility . But above all it teaches me the most important lesson of Life ... "Never Give Up". In swimming , while inside of a swimming pool..at each point, choosing a task ( Freestyle / Backstroke/ Butterfly Stroke/ Breast Stroke) that is challenging and remaining mentally engaged in order to accomplish that task helps me to reach a "peak" performance in nearly every swim practice.
Every morning I wakeup at 5.30 AM to reach Anderson's club at Rabindra Sarovar for Swimming . Thus I develop a discipline of always being punctual ..on time. In the swimming pool , floating the body on the water , holding the breath .. submerging the head teaches me the major laws of the subconscious mind : The power of positive self belief. As I swim .. I do not permit the water to master me , I become the master of the water . I use my inner power to overcome the water. I swim every morning for both health & pleasure but above all I maser the power of my mind everyday while swimming . Patience , perseverance & determination are the qualities that need to be cultivated each day & I cultivate them on each day while swimming every morning .
